I love green. It's one of my favorite colors. So everytime St. Patricks Day rolls around, I get excited. I have snatched up some St. Patty's day inspiration from pinterest. I think I may try making the clover cookies. I'm sure my diet would appreciate that.

Sunday Sweet Sunday

Hubs is dealing with a nasty sinus infection (sniffle), so I went to church all by my lonesome. Today I reflected upon our journey here on earth. Everyone is destined to do different things and even though we hope to be at a certain checkpoint in life, sometimes we forget that Heavenly Father has different plans for us. I have learned this year to put alllll my trust in him and know that I am a daughter of God and he loves me so much and I have to trust him that all the wonderful things he has promised me will come to fruition when it is his time.

When I got home from church my tough hubs was still in bed, so I put together a little lunch for him to make him all better.

Did I mention today we are celebrating our Temple Sealment anniversary? I am so happy to be taking care of my sniffley hunk and to be with him forever and ever and ever and ever....it makes my heart smile.

I won't ever forget this day and the love we felt from our family and friends. Amazing to have this love sealed for eternity..

My beautiful parents. I owe them everything for teaching me about our Lord and Savior and how much he loves me.

To my amazing family, thank you for sharing with us on our special day, and may this anniversary always remind us to stay true and righteous forever and ever.

Trip to Park City Utah

I love Utah. My hubs is from there so when we visited, he took me to all his favorite spots. And we met up with family too. They are awesome. Our first stop was Park City. Woah dude. This place is like rodeo drive for skiers. Awesome atmosphere and super neat shops. Totally a picturesque town.

We met his cousin Phillipe at this really quaint bookstore/cafe for hot chocolate. Mmmm...perfect on a chilly day.

What? I haad to be in the picture (as my husband gives me the please get out of the middle of the street look...oopsie..sorry hubs.)

I made a new friend along the way

Trying to push my hubs into the snow. He was stiff as a statue. No budging.

We found this loooong narrow walk way, so we had to stop to see...but I think we were in someones backyard, hard to tell though.

We were too cool for skiing..(or I was too chicken). So we went tubing instead. Yes we did. Move over little kids. The big kids are here to play.

My first tubing experience. I know. Don't laugh. I was not nervous.

 

Hubby is a pro. Probably an undercover tubing expert.

 

So we decided to be totally extreme here and we tied Phillipe, my husbands and my tube together and went down the steepest hill. The other people around us were so jealous because we were going to go super duper fast with these two big men. and me. kinda. We taped it.

He took me to this underground pizza joint called The Pie and stuffed ourselves with the largest biggest pizza ever...but we shared it with friends and family. My husband is a U of U fan.

Love Utah. Please take me to live here hubs. Or at least vacation here soon, like next week.

Ode to the Hubs

I am so in love. Here is my Love story. summarized.

 I met Manny in college. It was the first day of school (2002) and my second semester in college. On the first day of school, I was alittle nervous (as usual), but always curious about who was going to be in my classes.
When I made it to my humanities class, I noticed my friend Laura, I sighed in relief and I sat next to her. Class began. The professor started to review the syllabus when the door swung open. Light surrounded the doorway as if angels were descending from heaven. This big statuesque man appeared at the doorway. My jaw dropped. He was so handsome. His black curly locks grazed his tan forhead and his blue eyes were like an endless sea. He casually made his way to an emtpy desk and plopped down into the seat. I turned to my friend Laura and said, "I am going to marry that guy".

Little did I know that "that guy" was thinking the same about me. We never really spoke in class, but made alot of eye contact. After the semester was over, we ran into each other at a Mexican restaurant. He asked for my phone number. My heart swelled. Several days later, he took me to the movies. Several days after that, he took me to dinner. A couple years later we were engaged. Then married, for eternity.

When I look into his eyes, my heart flutters, my stomach squeezes, and my throat tightens...My Heavenly Father loves me soooo much, that he has blessed me with the most incredible man. Manny is so genuine, loyal, patient and caring. He is my rock. He loves our Savior and the Gospel. He is so smart, he makes me laugh. He is an amazing cook. He makes up the funniest songs to make me smile... In him, I have found the best in me.

So Today, even though making a family has been a struggle, it's okay. It's okay because it gives me more time to have him to myself and to continue preparing for those beautiful gifts to come down from Heaven.

Visiting Teaching

This is what I made for my Visiting Teaching this month. The purposes of Relief Society are accomplished through visiting teaching when sisters are given the opportunities to watch over, strengthen, and teach one another.

I wanted to make something Valentines themed and since I hoard boxes of all kinds, I thought it would be cute to cut out a huge felt heart and hot glue it to the lid



 

Next, I outlined the inside of the heart with hot glue and ruffled on pink lace ribbon

 

I used a quote from this months message from Gordon B. Hinckley and backed it up onto cardstock
 

 

Since we just moved into a new ward and I know no one, so I am going to try really hard to break out of my shell and not be shy. I can see myself now hesitating at the driveway, but, I know with the guidance of the holy spirit, I will be okay. Sunday Sweet Sunday

Ever realized there are a few things you could be better at? For me, I could be better at calling an old friend rather than dropping a text. I could be better at following up when a friend says "Hey we should do lunch sometime". Or make an effort to spend time and get to know people from church.

The thing is...I am a better listener and not so great as a conversation starter. I admire those people that go out and introduce themselves and are genuinely interested in you and ask you questions to get to know you better. Today, I came out of the box and introduced myself to a new woman at my church. My next step is to try to get to know her better.

So while I challenge you to do the same....the challenge is for me too. I hope for the courage and curiosity to make a new friend and step out of my comfort zone. Will you join me on this challenge? Drop me your thoughts, have a sweet Sunday!

Rosette Headband Tutorial

Todays post is hair accessories: I love them...but mostly on other people. I never wear anything in my hair because I feel like I look 12 years old. But, since its a huge trend in hair of all different ages I thought I'd suck it up and give it a shot.

I made rosettes out of ribbon and glued them to a headband. These rosettes have been floating the web for awhile so nothing new here. But, I did add a few new twists to it adding lace and felt.

Make a handful of circles out of felt, the size of the circle is the size of your rosette. You can eyeball your circle, however, I don't have good eyeball capabilities so I used a stencil.

Next, take your ribbon and tie a knot at the end. (Don't judge my wrinkley man hands...it was awful taking wedding pictures of our rings and our hands...I seriously couldn't tell the difference between his and my hand)

Now, just twist and dab hot glue, twist and dab in a circle motion

 

Once you've reached your desired size, tuck the tail of the ribbon under the bottom, hot glue it, and hot glue the rosette onto your felt circle

 

Next, glue another felt circle onto your headband (I picked up my headbands at Hobby Lobby)

I love the white one soo much, it's my new favorite to wear to the Temple

Here is what I came up with the rest of my ribbon scraps and random pearls (fake ones) I found in my craft box.

Doing this craft made me realize that. A) My man hands are not hot B) I have waaay to many empty water bottles sitting on my kitchen counter C). I desperately need a tri-pod

Road Trip-Marco Island

I am originally from Long Island, NY--my parents are Colombian. However, I have been in Florida for 24 years-so really....I'm a Floridian.

My husband grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, and when we went last year....I fell in love. I love the green mountains, red rock and rich soil. Florida is meh. Its humid, my hair is always poofy and it does not go hand-in-hand with my modest style of threads-(I prefer scarves, boots, layered cardigans and massive accessories).

There are a few things I do appreciate about Florida though, I love that we are literally at least 4-8 hours from Tropical Paradise. And while this is a top destination for vacationers, I think sometimes I take for granted what this little peninsula has to offer.

Last week my hubs whisked me away to a Tropical Paradise known as Marco Island. It is southwest of the state facing the gulf of Mexico. It only took us 3 1/2 hours to get there. We stayed at the Marco Ocean Beach Resort . It was so amazing, my favorite part about it was that it felt so exclusive. It is quiet and private.

We stayed in this awesome suite equiped with a full kitchen (this was a total budget saver because we packed several snacks and things to make)

 

One night we ate where the locals go at this fresh Seafood waterside joint called Snook Inn, its located right off of Marco River

(and thats hubs waiving me over because I was taking too long to adjust my settings...oops)

 

Totally a great atmosphere with live entertainment too--island music, the kind that makes you feel like swaying side-to-side...but not too far to the side because you'll fall into the river...

The next morning we walked over to the Marriott next door because we heard they had a steller breakfast buffet. A little pricey but totally worth it ($20 per person).

During our stay we traveled to Old Naples and shopped at the local boutiques there--problem is that we took our small digital camera on that part of the trip and I left the charger along with the cord thingie that uploads pictures at the hotel, I totally forgot to pack it.....so as soon as I get my hands on one, I'll upload to share. On my new fabulous Nikon p500 hubbs got for me for Christmas (and im still learning to use), I had a few snapshots of other randoms we did on our tripski. (lately ive been adding -ski at the end of some words..try it...its fun)

We loooooooove Mexican food. So when we came across this Mexican restaurant on our mini getaway we haaaad to stop

Hands down the best shrimp I've had! And a much needed vacation!
